As a painter I probably wash my hands more regularly than a lot of people to avoid eating nasty cadmium chemicals with my snacks and meals. And I even wash my hands before as well as after going to the loo so that I don’t end up with peculiar coloured genitalia. Regular hand washing for me is the norm at the best of times – and now at what is far from the best of times I seem to be endlessly washing my hands.
Over the past two weeks without any hot water in the house the constant washing of hands in cold water has become very painful as my knuckles are cracked and red raw. But there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. I last spoke with the company who are installing the new boiler and they told me that they were pretty confident that they would have an engineer with me tomorrow. They didn’t say if he would have a boiler with him and to avoid disappointment I didn’t enquire.
If I do get sorted with a new boiler tomorrow I have promised myself a lengthy luxurious wallow in the bath on Saturday.
There is some irony in how things have panned out over the last two weeks. Fortunately for everyone else the distance of Social Distancing seems to have coincided with the length of time that I have been without hot water. I cant imagine anyone wanting to get up close and personal anytime soon.
Until the next time stay well and God Bless.
