Love Heart Mugs
Oil on Linen
I found these short mugs in a local charity shop. I thought that they would be fun to paint and the muted pastel colours would shift my palette. The colours of the mugs stacked like this reminded me of ‘Love Hearts’ sweets that we used to get as kids and I couldn’t resist googling to see if they are still being made. They are and with motifs such as ‘I Love You’, ‘For Keeps’, and ‘For Keeps’ they bought back embarrassing playground memories.
I love a bargain. These mugs are in pristine condition and cost just 50p each! There are bargains to be had in charity shops, they are a great source of ‘props’ for my still life paintings and I like the idea of recycling as much as I can. No doubt at some point they will return to a charity shop for someone else to enjoy.
