Oil on Linen
Its not raining today and the forecast is suggesting that it’s not due to rain again here in North Norfolk for over a week.
Not sure I believe the forecast though. When I moved here six years ago I mentioned to a local that the weather forecast was frequently wildly inaccurate and he told me that I was better off listening to the shipping forecast. Initially I put his suggestion down to him having a dry sense of humour but over time I took note of the shipping forecast for ‘Humber’ and he was correct. It is much more accurate – just a shame that it’s broadcast at 5.20am in the morning.
A break form the rain will hopefully bring the level of the Wensum back to within its banks. At the moment the dogs and I struggle along the flooded river path down there on our morning walk. The water is over half way up my wellies and if it gets a few inches higher I’ll need to roll my trousers up and go barefoot . . . and dogs will need to swim.
At dawn this morning there was no rain and the river was tranquil. The Heron back in his usual spot on an old tree stump on the outlook for frogs and the Moorhens scuttling across the water. There was birdsong a plenty as if to celebrate the break in the weather and God was in his heaven and all was well with the world. What a difference from the rain! Things are looking Rosy.
Thank you Kate and Eddie for my Roses.
